Quiet queer spaces

Thoughts on the gap that I am trying to fill as a queer facilitator

Taking inspiration from Hannah Gadsby's ideas on (neuro)diversity in the queer community, I've come to understand that the audience for the queer facilitation I do can be best identified as The Quiet Gays:


Both within the context of queer Catholicism and in queerdom in general, I've experienced a growing pull away from the things I normally appreciate: sincerity, a sense of community, and daylight. For many young queer people, the queer community can, as a false monolith, present itself as an event that happens one week or month a year during the day, and every weekend at night.
